バレエでいうところのポールドブラが美しい。
私が青木祐奈選手を知ったのはつい2年前だが、その肩と肘の使い方、視線のやり方にすっかり魅了された。もっと彼女の演技構成点が高くてもいいのにと、ずっと思っていた。
フィギュアスケートの選手たちは早朝から起きて、家から遠いリンクに通い、ケガと戦いながら何年も皆、努力を続けている。
トップ層にならなければ経済的な負担も大きく、彼女も何度もやめようと思っていたと聞く。
スケートリンクの受付をしながらなんとか続けてきた彼女の努力が、今回四大陸選手権の金メダルで報われ、多くのファンが涙をこぼした。
外国の誰かがSNSでこうつぶやいていた。
「だれか今すぐエマ・ストーンを探して、青木祐奈のことを教えて！」
映画ラ・ラ・ランドの物語をたった4分で伝えきった彼女の魅力を、世界が知った。
オリンピック代表でないことがわかると、
「日本だけ５枠設けていいんじゃないか？彼女をミラノで観れないなんて！」というつぶやきも。
層の厚い日本のフィギュアスケート界をまず国内で勝ち抜かないと、国際大会には出られない。
国際大会に出られなければランキングも上がらない。
そしてランキングが上がらなければ演技構成点も上がってこない。
となると、まずは国内の大会でジャンプが決まらないことには！と、ファンは堂々巡りをしていたのだった。
今YouTubeのおかげもあり、日本のバレエ界は空前の推しブームでクラウドファンディングやスポンサー募集が普通になってきている。
これをきっかけに彼女にも突破口が見つかるといいなと願う。
こんな時代だからこそ、美しいものから目が離せない。

Recently, I watched a figure skating competition called the Four Continents Championships.
A Japanese skater named Yuna Aoki won the gold medal.
Her free skating program was set to the music from La La Land.
She wore a blue dress, and her performance felt just like watching a movie on ice.
It wasn’t only beautiful skating, it was real storytelling.
What moved me most was her background.
She has no sponsors, and because of financial difficulties that many athletes face, she has considered quitting skating many times.
Even now, she works part-time as a receptionist at an ice rink.
Knowing this, her performance felt even more powerful.
Many people in the audience were cheering, and I felt as happy as if I were her family.
Someone tweeted, “I have to look for Emma Stone and show her Yuna’s performance.”
Some fans were disappointed that she won’t be able to skate at the Olympics.
But I really hope this gold medal becomes a turning point for her.
I hope she can find a sponsor—or even try crowdfunding—so she can keep skating.
For me, her performance showed why sports can move people so deeply. I’ve been drawn to her skating for about two years now, and I’ve always wondered why her program component’s score wasn’t evaluated more highly.
The way she moves her shoulders and uses her eye contact feels completely natural. Her movement reminds me of the port de bras in ballet. It’s something you’re born with, not something you can learn just by being taught.
In figure skating, world rankings are very important, so if you don’t compete at the World Championships, it’s hard to be properly recognized. Japanese skaters first need to win domestically because Japan has a deep pool of figure skaters.
That’s why I’m truly happy that her talent and hard work were finally seen by the world this time.
It is precisely because we are living in such difficult times that we cannot take our eyes oｆｆ beautiful things.
