照明が落ちると満天の星。
星空の下、ざわざわと風で揺れる暗い森の中に、白い羽をつけた妖精(新国立劇場のプリンシパル小野絢子さん)が現れた。
結婚を控えながら妖精シルフィードに心奪われた農夫のジェームズが、魔女の策略で、うっかり追いかけているシルフィードの命を絶ち、
打ちひしがれているうちに、ジェームズの婚約者は友人と結婚してしまうという、
なんとも情けない、哀しいお話。
妖精、魔女、まぬけな美男子。
バレエの必須項目を揃えたシンプルで比較的短いストーリーなのだが、
野外で観ると幻想的な雰囲気がさらに増し、素晴らしかった。
最初にシルフィード役の小野さんのポワントが少し滑ったように見え、ドキッとした。
夜露、照明に集まる蛾、風、ダンサーにとってリスクしかない野外の舞台。
それでも思い切って出演してくれるダンサーには心から感謝。
ラ・シルフィードのような幻想的な森が舞台のバレエこそ、いつか野外で観たいと思っていた。
夢が叶った真夏の夜。
出口では皆、ダンサーが持つ熊本地震への募金箱に心ばかりを入れていく。幸せな満たされた気持ちを、つながった空の下にいる、すべての人が持てますように。
La Sylphide: A Fairy in a Real Forest 🧚🌳

As the stage lights dim, a sky full of stars emerges.
Beneath the stars, in a dark forest rustling in the wind, a white-winged fairy appears. She is the Sylphide, danced by Ayako Ono, a Principal Dancer of the New National Theatre.
James, a farmer soon to be married, becomes captivated by the Sylphide. Tricked by a witch, he unwittingly causes the death of the fairy he has been pursuing. As he stands there devastated, his fiancée marries his friend instead.
A fairy, a witch, and a handsome fool: La Sylphide has all the essential ingredients of a ballet. Its story is simple and relatively short, but seeing it performed outdoors made its enchanted world even more vivid.
Near the beginning, Ms. Ono seemed to slip ever so slightly while dancing on pointe, and my heart skipped a beat.
Night dew, moths drawn to the stage lights, the wind—an outdoor performance brings risk after risk for the dancers. That made me all the more grateful to those who accepted the challenge and took to the stage.
I had long dreamed of seeing a ballet set in an enchanted forest, like La Sylphide, performed in a real forest one day.
On this midsummer night, that dream came true.
At the exit, the dancers held collection boxes for those affected by the Kumamoto earthquake, and audience members stopped to make small donations. May everyone beneath this same sky find such happiness and fulfillment.
